Who are the Scouts?

The Scouts at Marnix are boys and girls from 11 to 15 years old. They meet every Saturday for a meeting. The group size varies per year, but usually consists of 10 to 20 members. This group, also called the 'troop', is divided into smaller groups of 5 to 6 Scouts, the so-called patrols. Each patrol has a permanent Patrol Leader (PL) and an Assistant Patrol Leader (APL) who guide the group.

What do the Scouts?

The Scouts' program is versatile and without a central theme, with activities that take place both indoors and outdoors. Every week the Scouts experience a new adventure: from games, pioneering and making fires, to swimming, baking bread, making igloos, sailing, bowling, and much more. They learn to work together, use maps and compasses, make rafts, and undertake challenging hikes.

The older Scouts, such as the Patrol Leaders (PL) and Assistant Patrol Leaders (APL), help the younger Scouts by passing on their knowledge and skills. In doing so, they learn to take each other into account and have respect for each other.

Every year the Scouts go to summer camp, where they go on an adventure together somewhere in the Netherlands. They sleep in patrol tents, pioneer their own kitchen and cook their own meals. The summer camp, often with a special theme, is the absolute highlight of the year!
