Adoption policy

At Scouting Marnix van Sint Aldegonde, we believe it is important that members can do fun and challenging scouting activities in a socially safe environment. When you think of children, young people and scouting, you immediately think of games, fun and a sustainable life. A mandatory Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is one of the measures that Scouting Marnix van Sint Aldegonde has taken many years ago to provide a safe environment within our association. We also have a code of conduct. To ensure that the wishes and expectations of (new) volunteers correspond with the wishes of Scouting Marnix van Sint Aldegonde, we not only conduct intake interviews, but we have also agreed that the first three months are a trial period.

Method of appointment

When a new volunteer has registered, an introductory meeting will be held between the new volunteer and at least two members of the relevant board and/or section. During the introductory meeting, Scouting Marnix van Sint Aldegonde will be presented and what the board expects from its volunteers will be discussed. In addition, it will be stated that "being a volunteer" also entails obligations. The code of conduct will be discussed with the new volunteer and when the new volunteer becomes permanently active within scouting, a VOG will be requested within four weeks. If the new volunteer has not yet been registered with Scouting Nederland, the volunteer will be registered with Scouting Nederland by the secretary of the board. The new volunteer will be linked to Scouting Marnix van Sint Aldegonde and the team under which the volunteer falls in Scouts Online (SOL) by the secretary of the board. After three months, an evaluation will be held between the new

Code of Conduct

Scouting Marnix van Sint Aldegonde considers a safe physical and social environment for its youth members and volunteers important. One of the tools for this is the use of a code of conduct. This states what is and is not desirable in the interaction between volunteers and youth members. This code of conduct is the same as the code of conduct of Scouting Nederland, which is included in the Internal Regulations and therefore applies to all members. The code of conduct is an addition to the Criminal Code, which states what legal boundaries are in the interaction with minors. In the event of (a suspicion of) transgressive behavior by volunteers of our organization, the Protocol Transgressive Behavior is used.

Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag (VOG)

A mandatory Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is one of the measures that Scouting Marnix van Sint Aldegonde took years ago to provide a safe environment within our region. The Household Regulations of Scouting Nederland offer sufficient opportunities to exclude and/or deregister members in the event of transgressive behavior and/or failure to submit a VOG.
