About the group

There are nine different scouting groups active in Vlaardingen. Each group has its own identity and traditions. The Marnix van Sint Aldegonde group is often simply called "the Marnix". Our group is part of the Maasdelta region (Schiedam, Vlaardingen, Maassluis and the South Holland islands). The Marnix was originally founded in 1945 as a "boys group" with a Christian signature. After the founding of the beaver section (5-7 year olds) in 1986, where boys and girls were admitted, it was decided to change the group into a "mixed" group. Boys and girls are therefore welcome in each section.

Scouting Nederland

The Marnix van Sint Aldegonde is part of the umbrella organization Scouting Nederland. Scouting Nederland is the largest youth and young people's organization in the Netherlands with more than 110,000 members. In addition to 1,000 Scouting groups, there are 45 Scouting regions spread throughout the country.
